Understanding the Different Types of Adhesives and their Applications

Anaerobic Adhesives

Unlike thermoset adhesives, which need heat to bond, the anaerobic varieties require the absence of oxygen to allow them to bind. In order to cure, they are placed in a vacuum to remove all traces of oxygen and put in contact with metal. These substances are commonly used in equipment enhancement, as agents for material retention, or used as threadlockers or thread sealants in fluid containment applications.
